Biography

Edric William Cook was born in Bernardston, Massachusetts, on 14 June 1903. The town birth record gives his name as Edvis William Cook and names his parents as Chas. William Cook and Gertrude B. Kent. ^[1]

The 1930 U.S. Census recorded Edric W. Cook, age 25, in Battle Creek, Michigan, in the household of his parents, Charles W. Cook, 53, and Gertrude B. Cook, 54. Also in the household was Edric's daughter Joyce T. Cook, 6, recorded as the grand-daughter of Charles Cook. According to the record, Edric was born in Massachusetts to a father born in New York and a mother born in Massachusetts. He was married, having first married at age 19, and he worked as a "Boss-operator" for a farm equipment company; his father was a blacksmith for a farm equipment company. Edric's daughter Joyce was born in Massachusetts to a father born in Massachusetts and a mother born in Connecticut.^[2]

Edric William Cook and Clara (Parmeter) Mason married in 1945. It was the second marriage for both. The Massachusetts Marriage Index has two entries for this marriage: once in Leyden and once in Easton. ^[3]

In 1950, the U.S. Census recorded Edrich Cook, age 46 and a farmer, and his wife Clara Cook, age 41 and a school music teacher, in Leyden, Massachusetts, with sons "Norman Cook," age 14 (he was in fact Norman Mason, his wife's son from her first marriage), and Robert Cook, apparently age 1 (in one place the record shows him as age 18 and in another place he is age 1). All were born in Massachusetts.^[4]

Edric Cook died in 1970 and was buried in Beaver Meadow Cemetery, Leyden, Franklin County, Massachusetts. The grave marker shared with his wife Clara reads:^[5]
