Biography
Sophia was born January 5, 1856 according to the 1901 census. Her parents were Benjamin Lohnes and Elizabeth Winters. She married George Conrad. She passed away February 25, 1938[1] and is buried in First South Community Cemetery.[2]
Research Notes
The marriage date for George and Elizabeth is unknown. The first child was born about 1881 so one would presume it would be not long before that. If so, that would mean that George was about age 45 when married. Seems a bit old but then Elizabeth was about 24 years younger so it makes sense from that perspective and she would have been about age 20 which is a normal marrying age for women of the time. There is a marriage recorded as December 21, 1878 naming our Elizabeth as the bride but the groom is listed as a George JOHN Conrad age 35, son of George and Catherine ... which is not correct for our George Solomon. Something doesn't make sense and I can't explain it.[3]
