John Francis Roantree was born in 1887 as the eldest of a large family.[1]
He lived on James' Street in Dublin with his parents and siblings. [2]
On April 2nd 1911 John was in India in the army (cavalry). His census record shows he was overseas in Mhow, India with the British army in the 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons. (His military history will be updated TBC). [3]
We know the family was definitely in England from at least November 1915[5], as his first child was born there. The 3 eldest children were all born in England. Sheila was born in Farnham (Surrey) in 1915[6], Chrissie in 1916 [7] and Jack[8] in 1918.
Annie, Thomas and Nellie were all born in Ireland. [9]
