She was born on April 20, 1948, in Milo, the daughter of Arthur and Rosemary (Crowdus) Drinkwater. Stella was a graduate of Milo High School, Class of 1967. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of Maine Orono, graduating when she was 60 years of age. She was an active member of Maine Women in the Arts of Kennebunk, and Fine Art America, where her artwork can be viewed at fineartamerica.com.

She passed away in 1976.
