Biography

Constance Mary Lindley was born on 7 March 1874 and was baptised on 12 April 1874 at Christ Church, Lancaster Gate, Westminster^[1]. She was the youngest daughter of Nathaniel Lindley and Sarah Teale. Her father was a Barrister of 19 Craven Hill Gardens.

She was educated in Scotland.

Constance married Major Cecil Francis Gurney (the son of Francis Hay Gurney and Margaret Charlotte ffolkes) on 5 October 1909 at East Carleton, Norwich, Norfolk, after Banns^[2].

They appear to have remained childless.

In the 1911 England Census Constance Mary Gurney (aged 35) was recorded living with her husband Cecil Francis Gurney (48 and a Land Agent) at Merlewood, Spixworth Road, Old Catton, Norwich. Also in the household were two servants, Mary Pierce (53) and Jessie Maud Day (23).

Her husband died on 16 September 1935.

She was living at Berry Hall, Great Walsingham, Norfolk when she passed away at 11 Mount Street, Westminster on 14 December 1935. Her Will was proved on 7 March 1936 at Norwich to her sister, the Honourable Jessie Louisa Lindley, spinster. Effects: £43622 17s. 7d.
