THOMAS COWDRY, born at Reading, 6 Mar 1742 son of Nathaniel and Tabitha (Hartshorn) Cowdry;[1] Thomas died at Ashby, 7 Jan 1828;[2] married at Wilmington, 10 Mar 1768,[3] LYDIA EVANS , born at Wilmington, 11 Apr 1747 daughter of Thomas Evans and Ruth Ballard;[4] Lydia died at Ashby, 17 Aug 1814.[5][6]
Lydia and Thomas resided in Ashby where they kept a farm. In 1790, Thomas’s household was nine persons at Ashby: three males 16 and over, four males under 16, and two females.[7]
On 15 June 1810, Thomas Cowdry yeoman of Ashby, in consideration of $300, conveyed 20 acres in Ashby to William Cowdry. On 5 September 1812, Thomas Cowdry with Lydia his wife relinquishing her right of dower, in consideration of one thousand dollars, conveyed his 50-acre homestead farm to Jacob Cowdry. This was a farm Thomas obtained by deed from Thomas Jones on 1 January 1771.[8]
Lydia Evans and Thomas Cowdry were parents of ten children born at Ashby.
