William was born about 1684. He passed away by Oct 1775 when a record of his estate was entered in New Hanover County. His will was written in 1773 and refers to him as “William Ezard”. [1]

William Ezell’s will bequeaths to his “grandson John Ezard of Virginia a tract of land on the south side of Fountains Creek in Virginia containing 145 acres…” and to “grandson Isaac Rowell of the same county 292 acres of land known by the name of Posey?…” A daughter Elizabeth, last name not stated, and other grandchildren are also named.
A 1786 Greensville County, Virginia deed (formed from Brunswick County, Virginia) records that Mial Ezell and wife Priscilla sell 145 acres on Fountains Creek to Jesse Jordan. Land was devised to John Ezell dec’d by “William Ezell the Elder”. The deed recites this was a land grant dated 1738.
