Howard came to the United States on 20 June 1923.[2][3]
Howard married Anna Elisabeth Sayer on 14 August 1926 in Selma, California.[4]
Howard first went to Africa in 1928 as a missionary with the Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society..[5] His wife Anna accompanied him and all three of his children, Sanley, Alice and Donald, were born there.
The family returned from Africa in 1936[6] and Howard began serving as an associate minister and the First Baptist Church of Van Nuys, California.
In the 1940 census Howard (age 40), was a Minister in Los Angeles, California.[7]

Howard was naturalized as a US Citizen on 13 Jun 1947 in Los Angeles, California.[8][9]
Howard left for Africa again in 1949 to serve as guide and interpreter for a hunting and filming expedition led by famed archer Howard Hill. "They left Los Angeles Nov. 20 for New Orleans where they embarked Dec. 9 and arrived at Matadi at the mouth of the Congo River in the Belgian Congo on Jan. 2 [1950]."[10] When the expedition returned in 1950, Howard stayed in Africa to resume his missionary work.
Howard died January 24, 1951 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.[11]
