Biography
Sarah Temperance Mason was born 7 January 1804, Swift Creek, North Carolina to Ralph Mason and Elizabeth Strickland. She died 28 April 1872, Hazelwood, Missouri.[1]
7 January 1825, Sarah turned 21, and would have received her inheritance from her father's estate.
Sarah was married to James McMahan (1800-1852). They married later in 1825 or early part of 1826. Their son, John Foster was born in November of 1826.

Research Notes
The memorial stone for Temperance is difficult to read. On FAG her birth is given as 6 September 1805, the alternate birth is 7 January 1804.
