Biography

Augustine Priestley was born in Huntingdonshire, England.

Augustine was born in 1783.

Augustine’s father died in 1790, when he was only 7 years old. When Augustine’s mother died in 1826, she shared her estate between him and his sister. He also inherited the Manor or Lordship of Fen Drayton with the rights royalties, member and appurtances, messuages or tenements, lands and cottages thereto belonging

Augustine appeared in the Buckden manor records in 1830, claiming a messuage held freely of the manor.

In the 1841 census Augustine (age 55) was on Church Street, Buckden, Huntingdonshire, England.^[1]

In 1851, Augustine (67) was a Farmer of 70 Acres, employing 3 Labourers. He lived in Church Street, Buckden with his wife and seven of his children, aged between 20 -29, and a female house servant.

He passed away in September 1856 of an apoplexy and paralysis for 6 days.

His will dated 6 Dec 1856 is held in the records of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, Will Registers Vol.No. 19 Quire Nos: 901-965.
