Biography

Della (White) Garrett is a part of US Black heritage.

Della was born about 1880. She was the daughter of George White and Fannie Randolph.

She passed away after 1918.

• In 1900 Della was possibly also counted at the Barber-Scotia School in Concord City, North Carolina. Occupation: Teacher. Birth: Jan 1880. • Della married Jamestuaga Wahalah Oscar Garrett around 1904. They had a daughter and were counted together on the 1910 U.S. Census. Oscar listed Della has his contact on his 1918 Draft Registration Card. He was living in New York and the address he provided for her was Philadelphia, PA.

• Genealogy trees and Wikipedia provide a death date of Feb 1916 for Della. This researcher believes it is incorrect. 1) There is a "Legacy NSF" general source that suggests about 1930 for her death. 2) The person who died in Washington, D.C. in February of 1914 was Delila M Garrett born 1887.^[1] Perhaps more can be found if the actual death notice can be accessed. 3) Della's (possibly estranged) husband was living in New York City at the time of his WWI draft registration and he provided Della as his next of kin. He used an address on Lombard Street in Philadelphia, PA; the same street where Della's father lived before his death.^[2]

• Della and Oscar's daughter, Fanny C. Garrett, appears to be counted as a lodger in Philadelphia, PA on the 1920 U.S. Census^[3]

• Della's name is not included on the family memorial stone in Craven, North Carolina.

• Daughter Fanny married Theodore Taylor in 1923. Nothing else has been found.

• This researcher has read through the mini bios for her father and not found any links to help expand on Della's profile.
