Biography

Charlotte, who often went by her middle name, Louisa, was born 5 Aug 1802^[1] in West Rupert, VT.^[2] She was the daughter of Josiah and Sally (Dewey) Rising.^[2]

On 2 Sep 1823,^[2] she married Isaac Sherman,^[2][3] a recent graduate of Union College near Albany and a newly accepted member of the bar. The couple would have three children during their 45 years of married life.^[4]

Josiah Rising,^[4] b. 1826, d. 1886

John S.,^[4] b. 1828, d. 1915

Albert,^[4] b. 1830, d. 1907

It was farming, and not a law practice however, that supported the family until her husband's death on 17 Apr 1869.^[4]

Louisa would join her husband of so many years on 11 Oct 1891.^[1][6] They are buried in the Evergreen Cenetery in Salem, NY.^[1][7]
