Biography
Edith Mary Fosdick was born in April 1915 at Quincy, Massachusetts. [1] She was the 5th child and daughter of Charles Whitmore Fosdick and Anna Irene (Small) Fosdick. [1]

Born in Quincy, she made her home in Hanover for over 70 years [4]
- 1920 - age 4, Living with her parents and 6 siblings in Quincy, Ward 1, Massachusetts [5]
- 1935 - Was living in the same place, on Broadway, South Hanover. [6]
- 1940 - age 23, living with her husband Thomas, and mother in law, Ella Bates along with their son Thomas Jr., on Broadway in South Hanover, Massachusetts. [6]
- 1950 - age 35, married to Thomas, Sr., livng with him and son Peter i Hanover, Massachusetts. [7]
She worked in several career fields: [4]
- an inspector at National Fireworks Co.,
- a waitress at the former Dreamworld Restaurant in Scituate,
- a Hanover school bus driver
- aide at the Center Elementary School in Hanover.
As a Volunteer, she was involved with the Hanover Garden Club, South Shore Hospital and Hanover Visiting Nurse Association where she served on the Board of Directors. [4]
She passed away in December, 2008, age 93, at Hanover after a period of failing health. [4] She is buried with her husband, Thomas Drew Bates, in the Hanover Center Cemetery, Hanover, Massachusetts. [8]
