Biography

Laura "Lory" Olive Adams was born about 1868^[1][2][3] in Iowa.^[1][2][3] She was the daughter of Joseph Adams^[1][2][3] and his wife Margaret Ropp.^[1][2][3]

In the census of 08 Jul 1870 "Lory Adams," aged two, was the youngest of seven children living with her parents Joseph and Margaret Adams in Hamilton Township, Hamilton County, Iowa.^[1] (The enumerator did mistake her for a boy though^[1] - an easy mistake to make at a time when all young children wore dresses.)

Olive Adams, 11, was the fourth of six children still at home with her parents in the 1880 census of Hamilton township.^[2]

She married Nelson Joshua Whaley.^[3][4]

She was widowed in 1943^[4] and buried Nelson at Graceland Cemetery^[4] in Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa.

In 1946 she lived at 934 2nd St, Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa^[3] and had lived in the community for 18 years.^[3]

Laura died 23 Nov 1946^[3][4] at 10:30 a.m.^[3] in Hamilton County Hospital,^[3] Webster City.^[4] She had had surgery two days earlier for complications of her chronic myocarditi and arterosclerosis, She was laid to rest with Nelson on 26 Nov 1946^[3] at Graceland Cemetery.^[3][4]
