Biography

William Davies and his wife Hannah are cited frequently as the parents of Sarah Davies in the baptism records of their grandchildren,^[1][2][3] but very little is known about them.

In these citations, it seems that they were living in Knutsford, Cheshire in 1783, and Goostrey, Cheshire, in 1786. But in all the citations from 1788 onwards, they seem to have settled in Tabley, Cheshire, which is a small village close to Knutsford.

Research Notes

There are a couple of potential marriages between William Davies and Hannah (or Ann), but neither is convincing.

• William Davies and Ann Mainwaring were married at Acton near Nantwich in 1752.^[4]

• William Davies and Ann Aston were married at Malpas in 1755.^[5]

A baptism record^[6] exists at Lower Peover for William Davis, son of William and Ann Davis of Allostock, who might be a brother of Sarah. Allostock is an old name for Lostock. Havercan-1 11:40, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
