Biography
Elizabeth Gallion was born in 1795 in Hawkins, Tennessee, United States. Her parents were Thomas Gallion (1758–1828 •KN4W-ZPR) and Catherine Yount (1760–1830 • LDP5-6H8). Her parents married in about 1778 in Maryland, British Colonial America.
Francis Frankie Desarn/DeZarn, Elizabeth Betsy Gallion, & thier family were among the first settlers in the lower Beech Creek area of Clay County Kentucky. They arrived in the early 1800's (about 1818) & built a small house in a clearing about 150 feet from where Beech Creek empties into Goose Creek.
According to Kelly Morgan's book Pioneer Families, Clay County, Kentucky 1769 to 1969, Frankie Dezarn came to Clay County in the early 1800's. He found several thousand unclaimed acres in the Beech Creek area to which he laid claim. He staked out his domain as follows: Beginning at the mouth of Beech Creek, taking in most of the main creek & all of Little Beech Creek & down Goose Creek to include half of the Sutton Branch & back up Goose Creek to the mouth of Beech Creek.
As the years passed, the family migrated up Beech Creek into the Little Beech Creek area. [1]
