Henry Clay Fugate was born on 11 Jan 1916 in Breathitt, Kentucky, United States, son of William Press Fugate (1886 - 1971) and Dulcena Katherine (Clemmons) Fugate (1885 - 1942).
On this death report, the US Army described him as a six-foot tall white man with brown eyes and black hair. He had a tattoo on this left arm of two crossed cannons with "200 CA USA" and on his chest another tattoo of two birds holding a heart that said, "True Love".[1]
In 1930, Henry was living in Elliotsville, Breathitt, Kentucky, United States.
In Eddy County, NM, Henry enlisted in the WWII on 6 Jan 1941. He served in the Army with the Coast Artillery Corps. He was sent to the Philippines.
The US Army reported that Henry was fighting with another prisoner of war Pasay Rizal. Rizal hit Henry in the jaw causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on a rock. He never regained consciousness. [1]
Henry died on 22 Oct 1943 in Bataan, Philippines, aged 27. Henry was mentioned on a memorial in Clemons Cemetery #1, Breathitt County, Kentucky with a death date of 22 Oct 1943.[2]
