Emma Josephine Whaley was born in November 1847 in Franklin, Tennessee, her father, George W Whaley (1823-1900) and her mother, Julettia P. Parks (1828-1909). She married Wiley Whittington on November 24, 1878, in Franklin, Illinois. She died on February 16, 1904, in Benton, Illinois.
