Madison was born about 1873. He passed away in 1944. Matt Phillips,71, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs.Rona Bunch, Clinton, at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 26. He is survived by 3 sons, Harvey Phillips, Rt.2, Clinton, Jesse Phillips, Briceville, and Eli Phillips, Oliver Springs, and 5 daughters, Mrs. Rona Bunch, Clinton, Mrs. Amos Carroll, Briceville, Mrs. Lue Patterson, Frost Bottom, Mrs. Ivan Steward, Knoxville, and Miss Rosella Phillips, Clinton. Clinton Courier June 29,1944 June 26.1944
