John was born in 1907. He was the son of Albert Noakes and Maria Challis. ^[1]

QSO 1981 Birthday Honours. Listed as John Lyle Noakes MBE JP – of Tapu.

Known as Lyle. Married to Olive Noakes. They had 2 daughters.

Lyle served in WW11. family recollection is that he served in the Pacific & was a prisoner of war.
