Pvt. James C or O Jenks was born in 1843, Pennsylvania to Lyman Jenks and Abigail Baker. He enlisted in the Union Army on 1 March 1864. James mustered into Company H, 145th Pennsylvania Infantry.[1]

On 16 June 1864, he was captured in Petersburg, Virginia. Pvt. Jenks was taken to the Andersonville Prison where he died of Dysentery on 27 October 1864. He is buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery, Section H, Row 11539.[2]
