Salima Sultan Begum was a daughter of Khwaja Nur ud-Din Muhammad of the Naqshbandi family & Shahzadi Gulrukh/Gulbarg Begum. Her maternal grandfather was Babur, founder of the Gurkani (Mughal) Empire. She was married first to the Commander-in-Chief of the Mughal Army, Bairam Khan, until his death in 1561. She was then married to the third Mughal Emperor, her cousin Akbar.[1][2]
