Research Notes
Find A Grave has listed Emma's birth as September 1859, which is exactly what was reported in the 1900 census. However, this is not likely given that Emma was absent from her parents' household during the 1860 census;[6] and reported to be 4 years old in 1865; 9 years old in 1870; and 19 years old in 1880. It wasn't until after Emma's marriage to Frederick that her age began to fluctuate slightly from census to census.
