Biography

Bettie (Blankenship) Deweese was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

Catherine Elizabeth Blankenship was born on April 10, 1871 in Bledsoe, Tennessee, United States, daughter of Gilford Giles Blankenship (1840–1926).

Catherine married John Milton Deweese (born on April 5, 1871 in Gladecreek, Bledsoe; son of Benjamin M. Deweese and Margaret Jane Kirkland). [1]

In the 1880 census Elizabeth (age 9) was the daughter of Gilford G. Blankinship in District 2, Grainger, Tennessee, United States.[2] Gilford G. Blankinship 40, wife Nancy M. Blankinship 33, son James D. Blankinship 12, daughter Elizabeth C. Blankinship 9, son Absalom B. Blankinship 7, daughter Mary F. Blankinship 5, son William H. Blankinship 2.

In the 1900 census Bettie (age 29) was the single daughter of Gifford Blankenship in Bledsoe, Tennessee, United States.[3] Gifford Blankenship 60, wife Mary Blankenship 59, daughter Bettie C Blankenship 29, son Absolan B Blankenship 27, son William H Blankenship 22, daughter Nancy J Blankenship 19, daughter Maggie B Blankenship 18.

In the 1910 census Bittie (age 39) was the wife of John M Dewuse in Civil District 6, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.[4] John M Dewuse 39, wife Bittie Dewuse 39, daughter Maud A Dewuse 12, daughter Nancy L Dewuse 7, son Bennie G Dewuse 6, daughter Maggie L Dewuse 3, son Willie R Dewuse 1.

In the 1920 census Bettie (age 48) was the wife of John Deweese in Civil District 4, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.[5] John Deweese 48, wife Bettie Deweese 48, daughter Chlora Deweese 17, son Ben Deweese 15, daughter Maggie Deweese 13, son Ray Deweese 11, son Albert Deweese 9, son Glen Deweese 6.

In the 1930 census Bettie (age 59) was the wife of J M Deweese in District 4, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.[6] J M Deweese 59, wife Bettie Deweese 59, daughter Maggie Lee Deweese 23, son Ray Deweese 21, son Albert Deweese 19, son Glenn Deweese 16.

In the 1940 census Betty (age 69) was the wife of John Dewees in Civil District 4, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.[7] John Dewees 69, wife Betty Dewees 69, son Silas G Dewees 26.

Catherine died on May 20, 1958 in Van Buren, Tennessee, aged 87.[8][9]
