Biography

Charlotte Agnes Johnston was born about 1804 in South Carolina.

She married David John Means (1800-1865) and they had the following known children:

1. Rebecca M. (Means) Graham (1830- aft 1880)^[1]
2. Hudson Johnston Means (1831-1872) (1831-1872)^[2]
3. Proctor Means (1833-)
4. Eliz Gould Means (1836-1936)^[2]

He built the Boligee Plantation in Boligee, Greene, Alabama in 1835.^[3][4]

In the 1850 census Charlotte (age 47) was in Greene, Alabama, United States.^[2]

In the 1880 census Mis (age 75), At Home, was the widowed mother of Rebecca Graham in Denison, Grayson, Texas, United States.^[1]

Research Notes

Charlotte A Means, wife of David J Means, is identified as the sister of John S Johnston of Fairfield District, SC. She was named as an heir in his will, signed on December 27, 1860.^[5]
