The 1905 Overmyer History says Solomon was a member of Co. K of the 169th O.V.I, but hired a substitute, Roman Binkley, to take his place when he was drafted. Solomon, his brother Michael and William Boyer built the first steam saw mill at Lindsey, Ohio. Solomon moved to Lindsey and resided there until his death.
