Willie (36) married Charlotte Ellen Steele (29) (born on 9 November 1889 in Port Chalmers, Otago, New Zealand; daughter of William Stewart Steele and Helen Matilda (Smith) Steele) on 6 January 1919 in Port Chalmers, Otago, New Zealand. ^[2]

Willie died on 5 April 1972 in Mokau, Waitomo, Waikato, New Zealand, aged 89.^[3] He was buried in Mokau Public Cemetery, Mokau, Waitomo District, Waikato, New Zealand (plot: 118, Block IV).^{[4] [5]}
