Robert Farmer born according to my searching in 1716 in Rottenrow where coal mining was giving work to most of this place there are many written explanations of life for these poor people including small children sent to help on the mines My connection is with Robert Farmers son George Farmer and Jean Meikle Who's daughter Violet Farmer married my ancestor Andrew Simpson 1768 and had a daughter Jean Simpson. Violet died very young and unfortunately I cannot be sure whether she died young or married
Robert and Violet followed traditional naming patterns for Violet's parents not for Robert's parent's if he was the Robert born at Spott.

Especially it is mind blowing how children could stand these conditions In 1842 were written articles which mention in East lothian surnames which many people who can trace their ancestors will recognise I believe that mine(simpsons) escaped this slavery
