Roanna Smith is a part of US Black heritage.

Roanna was enslaved by James Webb Smith in Jackson County, Tennessee, along with her mother Kitty and two older siblings Dilsy and Alfred.

James wrote his will on 20 February 1854 and died on 22 May 1856. He named 71 enslaved people, including "old woman Kitty and her youngest child Roanna" who were both given to his brother Thomas Smith "for the use and benefit of James Webb Smith and Hugh Brown Smith" who were the grandsons of James.
