Eliza Smith is a part of US Black heritage.

Eliza was enslaved by James Webb Smith in Jackson County, Tennessee, along with her mother Susan, older sister Emeline, and younger sister Alvira.

James wrote his will on 20 February 1854 and died on 22 May 1856. He named 71 enslaved people, including Eliza who was given to James's grandson James Webb Smith Ridley who lived in Maury County, Tennessee.
