Joseph was born about 1846, the son of Jacob D Deneen and Matilda Bosley. His headstone in Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Warfordsburg, Fulton County, Pennsylvania reads Joseph, son of J & M Deneen, Died 28 Jun 1862, Aged 16ys, 21m, 12d. None of his other known family members appear to be buried in the same cemetery.[1]
The cemetery where Joseph is buried at Warfordsburg is in Bethel Township, Fulton County where Joseph appeared in the household of his father Jacob Deneen in 1850, and was recorded as 6 years old and born in Pennsylvania.[2]
In 1860 Joseph was found in the household of John Gough, 14 years old and born in Pennsylvania. It's possible this was another Joseph Deneen, there were several Deneen families in and around Bethel Township at the time.[3]
