Biography
Alexander was born about 1580. He was the son of Alexander Stewart. He passed away after 1600.
Alexander married Barbara, daughter of John Jamieson, merchant, Ayr. Widow of John Peebles of Broomlands, Parish of Irvine. She had one daughter from this marriage, Marion who maried John Gordon of Caroness, Parish Anwoth.

I am not quite sure what you mean by reliable source. I would have thought "The History of the Lands and their Owners in Galloway" by P H M'Kerlie , printed 1906, was reliable. Certainly very similar if not the same information as "The Scots Peerage" by Sir James Balfour Paul, which at times the information is contradictory in some cases.
