Will of Jonathan STEPHENSON

In the name of God, Amen. I, Jonathan STEPHENSON of the county of Weakley and state of Tennessee, planter, being in perfect health of body and of sound mind and memory thanks to be given unto Almighty God, but calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowledged that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit. I give and bequeath my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner. My soul I recommend into the hands of Almighty God that gave it, not doubting but i shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of the same in the manner and form following.

I loan to my wife Nancy STEPHENSON all of my land property that is there now, so long as she lives, all of my stock of all kinds, and all of my household and kitchen furniture, so long as she lives. After the death of my wife, Nancy STEPHENSON, I give to Oscar S. STEPHENSON, thirty acres of land on the north boundary of the land I now live on; also the wagon and gear that he now has in possession. I give and bequeath to my son William B. STEPHENSON all the land that lies south from the offset of Orrin VINCENT's corner on the south boundary of said land; also one horse, bridle and saddle, one bed and furniture; and all my hogs, after the death of my wife. I give and bequeath to my granddaughter, Nancy Ann RAREDON, I give to her two beds and furniture, and mare and one trunk. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Charity POWELL, five dollars. I also give to my daughter, Elizabeth Ann JURDIN, five dollars. I also give to my daughter Mandy Melvina AUSTIN, one horse. I also give and bequeath to my son Man P. STEPHENSON, all of the balance of my land and all the balance of the property that I have after the death of my wife. I also nominate and appoint my son Man P. STEPHENSON, Executor to this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made.

Signed, sealed and acknowledged by the said Jonathan STEPHENSON, to be his last will and testament in the presence of us on this the eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred and fifity-one. Test: Alexander W. SPROUT Orin VINCENT
