OBITUARY #1: Last Rites For Warren DeCamp Many Attend Services of Pioneer Dallas County Resident at Church in Redfield

Funeral services for Warren T. DeCamp whose death occurred last Monday, were held at the Methodist church in Redfield, conducted by Rev. E. R. Stroud, assisted by Rev. Hedges, pastor of the Panther Creek United Brethren church. There were many old friends and neighbors in attendance. The following obituary was read at the services:

Warren T. DeCamp, in whose memory and honor we hold this service, was born in Elkhart Indiana, January 1st, 1867 and departed this life at his late home on the farm near Kennedy Station in Dallas Co., Iowa, November 19th, 1934, aged 77 years, 10 months and 19 days.

He came with his parents to Iowa in 1863 and since then has made his home in this county. Here was married to Mrs. Mary E. Reese on December 26th, 1879, and to them thirteen children were born, six of them of whom, with the wife and mother, survive.

The surviving children are Orvel and Orpha DeCamp of Redfield; Leone of Adel; Milford and Mrs. Ethel Doerrs of St. Louis; and Mrs Rachel Coulter in California. There are eleven grandchildren together with five brothers, five sisters and numerous other near relatives and dear friends who mourn his going.

While yet a young man he united with the Panther Creek Brethren church a devoted service and liberal financial support. He was a good Bible student and testified frequently of his religious experience and steadfast faith in God.

He was a man among men, he loved and was loved, worked hard dealt honestly with his fellow, was a good citizen and neighbor - that he was a benevolent and provident husband and father is evidenced by the fruitfulness of his home and family life.

Stricken with Pneumonia a few days ago, the added load being more than his already weary heart could carry, it ceased to function and his spirit, released from its house of clay took its flight to the bosom of the God who gave it.
