Mary Ann Wimberly was born on March 10, 1837 in Blount, Tennessee, United States, daughter of Major Wimberly (1804–1866) and Mary Nancy Sterling (1808–1883).[1]
Mary married James Maddison Lawrence (born on February 18, 1834 in Cherokee, Alabama, United State; son of Henry M Lawrence and Nancy Tharpe).

In 1860, she lived in Fulton Township, Polk, Arkansas, United States,[2] and Justice Precinct 4, Johnson, Texas, United States in 1870.[3]
She lived in Chickasaw Nation Reservation, Murray, Oklahoma, United States in 1900[4] and Justice Precinct 7, Montague, Texas, United States 20 years.[5][6]
She died on 31 May 1926, in Montague, Texas, United States, at the age of 89, and was buried in Eagle Point Cemetery, Montague, Texas, United States.[7]
