Biography

Joshua Booth, the son of Oliver Booth and Ruth Ingam, was probably born in Hebron, Connecticut, where he was baptized in 1759. [1] [2]

He married, in Lempster, New Hampshire, on June 16, 1785, Mehitable Slader, daughter of Samuel Slader and Mehitable Lewis. They settled in Lempster and had five children: [2] [3]

  1. Alfred, born March, 3 1786; died unmarried 1871.[2]
  2. Truman, born October 17, 1787; married Sophia Spencer; died April 6, 1853.[2]
  3. Oliver, born August 14, 1790; married Eunice Smith.[2][3]
  4. Ellis, born August 5, 1792; died February 5, 1793.[2]
  5. Mason, born October 9, 1794; married Mary Currier.[2][3]

Joshua served in American Revolution from July 21, to September 22, 1777, under the command of General Stark and probably was present at the Battle of Bennington, Vermont, in August 1777. He died of "hydrophobia," in Lempster, on December 17, 1816, and was buried at East Lempster Cemetery in East Lempster, New Hampshire. [2]
