Bella (Lauder) Cormack migrated from Scotland to Canada.
Bella and William immigrated on the ship named Megantic from Scotland when they were both 30-years-old, and landed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Canada Passenger Lists page is stamped with April 3, 1911, and their destination was Toronto. William's occupation in Scotland was a Porter, with his planned occupation in Toronto as a General Labourer. Their religion is Protestant.[3]
On April 19, 1915, William enlisted in the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force. On a number of documents, it shows Bella as his next-of-kin living at:
614 Richmond W, Toronto, Ontario when he joined the C.E.F.
150 Rose Park Drive, Toronto, Ontario on his War Service Gratuity document dated February 14, 1918.
1 Edina Place, Edinburgh, Scotland on separation papers dated April 15, 1915.
65 Mill Street, Dunfermline, Scotland on movement papers from 1918.
16 Portlama Street, Toronto, Ontario on promotion/reductions papers signed February 20, 1919.
Believe she moved back to Scotland with his family while he was enlisted. Separation documents indicate April 15, 1915, was when documents were updated to UK address. At this point, Edward would have been about 2-years-old and she would have been pregnant with Helen. [4]
