Mr. Shurtleff was captain of a military company and a justice of the peace. He died with the measles.[4]

Probate
The will of Barnabas Shurtleff of Plympton was dated 10 May 1759 and proved on 4 June 1759 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Jemima, his four daughters, Susanna Atwood, Jemima, Elizabeth, and Molly, and his two sons, Francis and Barnabas.[6]
His inventory was taken on 21 June 1759 in Plympton.[7]
In 1759, his real estate was divided between his widow, Jemima, and his two sons, Francis and Barnabas.[8]
