Mary Frances Wicksteed was a daughter of Thomas and Eliza Wicksteed.
She was employed as a governess by the United Kingdom politician Robert Needham Philips, M.P. One of her charges was Robert Philips's grandson Charles Philips Trevelyan, future President of the Board of Education in the government of Ramsay MacDonald, and older brother of the historian George Macaulay Trevelyan. Mary Wicksteed painted watercolours that are highly regarded. They include 64 watercolours, mainly landscapes, painted on tours of Scotland and North Wales, United Kingdom, and some small watercolours depicting Charles Trevelyan as a baby. [1] [2]
Mary Wicksteed passed away in 1906 in Kent, England (United Kingdom), aged 69. [3]
