Those of you who know me realize that I go by my middle name. I'm Bob because Dad, (Leo Robert), went through life being called "Jun" even though his father was Leo Solomon. My profile picture unfortunately no longer looks like me- Well, aging can be like fine wine, can't it? The REAL genealogist in the family was Bernice! Mom can easily be credited as the hoarder of all things family. She faithfully clipped and pasted birth, marriage, death notices (in the Schenectady Union Star, (later Gazette)), as well as scribbles and greeting cards from children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren. It will break my heart to trash all that stuff, but it looks to be inevitable, since my own children have no interest in original art. More on my parents story in their own profiles. As for me: While born in Schenectady, I grew up across the Mohawk river in Scotia, NY. After graduation from Scotia- Glenville HS, spent 4 years in Montreal at McGill U, a year teaching mathematics, (and chorus??) at Lake Luzerne NY, 4 years at S.U.N.Y. Upstate Medical Center at Syracuse, 5 years at U of MN Hospitals studying clinical pathology. I moved to Greenville NC with my wife Linda and boys Mike and Matt- born shortly after we arrived. Here I taught and practiced pathology for 30 years, established the tissue typing lab for kidney and bone marrow transplantation at ECU School of Medicine and later worked in hematopathology. We still live in Greenville, but enjoy travelling to the "family" cabin on L. Champlain in upstate NY where I enjoy fishing, snorkeling and looking for "Champie". Since retirement, we have enjoyed traveling, and I even visited a possible relative's grave in Melbourne, Australia. Besides genealogy, and outdoor sports, my sons and I keep in touch by going to Carolina Hurricanes games together. Barbershop quarteting and good music of all kinds round out my favorite hobbies. Since discovering WikiTree I feel a sense of urgency to get my own (and mom's) information out there on a web site that people don't have to pay for to see. I found lots of old albums that I inherited from aunt Bess (Elizabeth Marie Hanrahan) and from mom and dad, including 100+ year- old wedding photos and family reunions. I will try to post most of these as secondary photos in family profiles.
