Son of Conrad Swingle and Sarah Cobb.

Conrad Swingle & Sarah Cobb. He married first Maria House on July 4, 1855. Their children were Byron S., Merritt W., Watson C., Finley E., Leander, Lizzie M., Emmitt L., Friend A., & Oliver B. Swingle.

After Maria died he married Electra A. Freeman, widow of Horace Jenkins, on Sept. 28, 1879, in Wayne Co., PA. Their children were Edith M. & Alta M. Swingle.

Emery was a farmer and a railroad worker. He was a Civil War veteran, Company B 6th NY Heavy Artillery.
