George Ellis was born on 23 Jun 1767 in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay Colony, son of Joshua Ellis (1728 - 1769) and Innocent (Hammond) Ellis (1737 - 1797).

George married Sabra Nye , daughter of Stephen Nye and Maria Bourne, on 26 Aug 1791 in Sandwich.

Their daughter was Betsey Ellis (1794 - 1860).

George married Abigail Freeman , daughter of Nathaniel Freeman and Tryphosa Colton, on 15 Mar 1802 in Sandwich.

Their son was Russell Freeman Ellis (1807 - 1858).

George died on 3 May 1842 in North Fairfield, Lincoln, Maine, USA aged 74.
