John was born on 23 June 1865 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. ^[1] He is the son of Daniel McNamara and Jane McKinzie.^[2]

John married Mary Mullen on 6 June 1898 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania.^[3]

In 1920 the couple were recorded ay Eureka Street, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania with four (4) children. John was occupied as a policeman with the City Force. At that time John and Mary's daughters were recorded as Katherine 18, Marie 15, Jane 6 and son Robert was 6 ^[4]

John passed away in 1940 at Pittock, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States of America. He was buried at Mount Lebanon, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States of America.^[5]

• Discrepancy between place of birth in 1880 census and marriage entry. In the 1880 census he is the only child listed as not born in Pennsylvania.
