Biography

Vita was born in 1859 to Stefano Abbate, a farmer, and Maria Antonia Randazzo ^[1]. In 1880 at age 20, she married 27-year-old Matteo Abbate, a bricklayer ^[2] and her first cousin.

Vita was named for her paternal grandmother, Vita Montelione.
