Biography

Jacob was baptised in 1820 in Upton, Huntingdonshire, England,[1] where he lived with his parents, Abraham Abbott and Mary Webb, in 1841.[2]

In 1846 Jacob married Eliza Scuffham in Alconbury Weston, Huntingdonshire.[3][4] In 1851 the couple lived in Alconbury, where Jacob was the publican of the Full Quart on Maypole Square.[5] The family had moved to Graveley, Huntingdonshire, by 1861, when Jacob had the Lion public house.[6] He was a "publican and farmer" in 1871[7] and a baker in 1881.[8]

In 1891 Jacob and Eliza lived on Murray Terrace off the High Road in Finchley, Middlesex. Eliza worked as a washerwoman.[9]

Eliza died in 1895.[10] Jacob died in 1900 at the age of 79.[11]
