Biography

William Charles Adamson was born in 1854 in Bowdon, Georgia. He was the son of John Whitfield Adamson and Mary Ann McDaniel.[1] William attended Bowdon College, and was admitted to the bar in 1876. He began his career by practicing law in Carrollton, Georgia. He also served as a judge for the City Court of Carrollton from 1885-1889.[2] He married Minna Reese on January 29, 1885 in Carroll County, Georgia.[3]

William (62) married Ellen G Zellars (41) (born in 1875 in Georgia, United States; daughter of Thomas Edward Zellars and Mary Ella (Moreland) Zellars) in 1917 in Georgia.

William served as a member of the United State House of Representatives from March 4, 1897 to December 18, 1917. After this, he served as a judge of the United States Customs Court from May 28, 1926 to January 20, 1928.[2]

After his term as a judge ended, he returned to the practice of law in Carrollton, Georgia. Charles died on January 3, 1929 during a trip to New York City.[2][4] He was buried in the Carrollton City Cemetery, Carrollton, Carroll, Georgia.[5]
