Biography

Sir Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Patrick Agnew of Lochnaw, 1st Bt. and Margaret Kennedy. A contract for the marriage of Sir Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, 2nd Bt. and Lady Anne Stewart was signed on 22 March 1625. He died in 1671.

He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire [Scotland] in 1644. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire [Scotland] from 1648 to 1649. He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Galloway between 1649 and 1671, 9th. He held the office of Sheriff of Galloway in 1656, including Kirkcudbrightshire.

He was fined £6,000 for supporting Cromwell. He was invested as a Knight before 1661. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Agnew, of Lochnaw, co. Wigtown [N.S., 1629] on 29 October 1661.

He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire [Scotland] in 1665. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire [Scotland] in 1667. His last will was dated 15 February 1668. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire [Scotland] between 1669 and 1671.
