Biography

Annie was a Mercy Nun.

Annie Matilda Ahlberg was born on 4 January 1893 to Andrew Ahlberg and Isabella McMullen, in Brisbane Queensland.^[1]

In 1914 Annie did work as a typist in Red Hill, Queensland.^[2]

On 25 May 1917 Annie joined the Convent of Mercy and took the name Sr Mary Concepta.^[3] In 1922, Annie was a music teacher, working at 533 Ann St., Brisbane.

Between 1934 and 1938 Sr Mary Concepta worked in the Convent in Bundaberg^[4]

In 1949 Sr M Concepta was working as a teacher in Convent Of Mercy, Alfred St., Nanango ^[5] Her teaching continued and she was transferred in 1959 to the Convent (Holy Cross), Morris St Wooloowin. ^[6]

Sr Mary Concepta died 29 July 1980. ^[7] She was interred in Nudgee Cemetery on 31 July 1980.^[8]

Research Notes

The St Bedes Nuns List states the name as Anne Matilda Ahlberg and that she was born in 1894. Her tombstone also states the same information. Please note her actual birth was in 1893. The information for her tombstone would of come from the convent where the typo was originally created.
