Biography
When Matthew Aikman was born on 1 April 1777 in Currie, Midlothian, his father, James, was 44 and his mother, Catherine, was 41. He married Christina Glendenen on 19 May 1812 in Canongate, Midlothian. They had six children in 13 years. He died on 2 February 1854 in his hometown, having lived a long life of 76 years.
