Biography
Everston (Alcord) Alford is a part of US Black heritage.
Everston was born in 1871 in New Orleans to James Alford and Martha Graham. He was African-American.
He married Alice Johnson. Their children were Clarence and Thelma.
He had a variety of occupations over the years. He worked as a garage mechanic, janitor, owned a restaurant. When he died his occupation was shown to be a minister.
He died in 1956 in Kansas City after being left paralyzed following a stroke. He was buried at Lincoln Cemetery in Kansas City.[1][2]
Research Notes
Dc was hard to read and some entries have turned out to be misleading. Correct surname is Alford. Based on census records, he was born about 1868-1871, but dc reads 1891 which can't be right. Married about 1902-3.
Mother in law has a 1933 dc, parents Joe Pearson and Isabelle Fowler(?). Alice and mother can be found in Shreveport in 1900 as Johnsons.
